BLACKOUT IN NASHVILLE
Nashville's going dark, y'all.
Monday, August 21st, 2017 the TOTAL eclipse is happening. I'm not sure if I'm excited or a little scared. You have to admit, it's kind of freaky. But, totally badass at the same time.
Like, this is a once in a lifetime thing to see.
What is it?
It's a solar eclipse where the moon passes between the sun and the earth. In doing so, it blocks all/some of the sun for about 3 hours. (from given locations) With this eclipse, the longest period when the moon totally blocks the sun will be about 2 minutes and 40 seconds. Cool thing: The last time the US was able to see something so spectacular was in 1979. What were you doing in 1979? Oh yeah, that's right.... most of us weren't even born yet.
Where can I see this?
Anyone in the US will be able to see a partial eclipse. (where the moon covers only a part of the sun) In order for you to see a TOTAL eclipse, you'll need to do a little traveling if you aren't in one of the states below...
Oregon
Idaho
Wyoming
Montana
Nebraska
Iowa
Kansas
Missouri
Illinois
Kentucky
Tennessee
Georgia
& North + South Carolina.
The total eclipse will end in Charleston, SC at 2:48PM EDT.
The longest segment of the eclipse will be in Carbondale, IL. 2 minutes and 40 SOLID seconds of straight up dark. (insert being slightly freaked out here)
